a bit about meJessamyn is my real name (pronounced "Jess-uh-min"). It's a night-blooming jasmine flower that grows in the south. When she was young, my mom read a scene in "Gone With The Wind" that mentioned Scarlett O'Hara sitting (let's face it: she was probably swooning) under a jessamine vine, and that was that.
Despite my romantic Southern-inspired name, I am a native-born Californian, and I've lived in beautiful Sonoma County my whole life - except while I got a BA from Bennington College in Vermont. Which may not fully count as leaving California, since I gratefully returned home every deep, frozen winter and humid, green summer break. Aside from studying photography in college, I learned on my own, in high end photo labs (developing and printing with film! and chemistry!), and with friends and roommates. I'm self taught in most respects, with 15+ years of very hands-on work - from film to digital, and student hobbyist to professional.
I live with my husband, Devon; our 5 year old daughter, Symphony; and our silly cats in Santa Rosa, California, in the heart of Sonoma County. The North Bay is my family's favorite place in the world, and Devon and I delight in showing Symphony all of the places we grew up enjoying, as well as finding new ones to explore together.
In addition to adventuring, laughing and cuddling with my little family, my favorite things are sunshine, books, food, swimming, summertime, travel, colors, people, and photographing all of those things as often and as creatively as I can.
I have a quirky, sarcastic sense of humor, as well as a sensitivity for beauty, sweetness, and love. I work hard at my amazing profession, and I thrive on doing a great job for each and every one of my clients. I believe you can see my personality in my work – not just in the weddings and portraits here, but also at www.jessamynharrisphoto.com and on my blog.
I love meeting new people, and I am always happy to set up a time to talk on the phone or in person. I look forward to getting to know you.
